The Alpujarras is a fabulous area to explore by bike. There are good tarmac roads with little traffic. For mountain bikers there´s an extensive network of dirt tracks and challenging single tracks. Being in form is maybe even more important than having mountain biking experience. This is because the terrain doesn´t require a specific lot of technique, but the differences in height you need to bridge can be considerable. 

We rent out two aluminium medium-sized mountain bikes of the brand Coluer. The bikes are equipped with water bottle, pump and a repair set. We provide helmetsand a small rucksack. This rucksack contains a lightweight windbreaker,a reflection slipover to wear on public roads and a first aid kit.Please think of other necessities yourself and don´t forget your sunglasses.

´El Paraje´ takes on the risks of damage the bikes suffer by normal use. We are not responsable for damagas of belongings or personal injuries suffered whilst renting one of our mountain bikes. Of course we will be available to asist you in any possible way in case of calamities.

Some general advice regarding safety and accidents: Make sure you have a valid EHIC card.Please ensure you have adequate insurance for mountain biking. Always wear a helmet. Control your down hill speed. Give right of way. Inform us on which routes you are planning and make sure you can contact us by mobile telephone.

Jenny Mayhew and Tim Kirkus, founders of ´Pure Mountains´, and Offroad Training Consultancy qualified guides offer mountain bike holidays from their farmhouse above Bérchules. Jenny en Tim know the area well and tailor the rides to the experience and level fitness of the the different riders, taking also the weather into account. The guiding is very professional and with full landrover support. They offer biking weekends and weeks throughout the year, but there are also possibilities to make arrangements for day rides.
